The Best Gaming Laptop: Razer Blade [19659006] Razer Blade 2019 “/>
Dan Baker / Digital Trends

Why You Should Buy This : You want a gaming powerhouse with a MacBook-like sense of style.

For whom it is: Gamer Those who need something small and light that can still take one hit.

Why we chose the Razer Blade:

The Razer Blade delivers serious gaming performance in a slim case. The sleek design of the system is enhanced by an attractive matt black unibody aluminum case. The result is a system that looks very similar to the black MacBooks of yore (that's a compliment). It stands out from the crowd with its sleek design and impressive, chrome-lit keyboard and touchpad. Even more impressive is the 144-Hz 1080p display, which should ensure that the refresh rates remain high.

The latest version features an 8th generation Intel Core i7-8750H CPU and features the latest RTX graphics from RTX 2060 to RTX 2060 RTX 2080 Max-Q. These are some really powerful gaming laptops that can handle just about anything you throw at them. Even better, the 9th generation Intel CPUs are also available, and Razer has integrated some interesting new screen technologies. The panel, with a remarkable refresh rate of 240 Hz, will seduce most gamers, but the sacred 4K OLED model alone is interesting for its unbelievable colors and unmatched contrast.

Although it has many strengths, the blade has fallen victim to the limitations of its own footprint. In the past, they are hotter and louder than the competition with a thicker case, and they are not as powerful as some larger-frame laptops. The price is also quite high, but if you are willing to pay for it, you will get an amazing slot machine.

The Most Powerful Gaming Laptop: Alienware Area-51m

 Alienware Area-51m Test
Riley Young / Digital Trends “/>
19659017] Why You Should Buy This: You want to play the latest games on a laptop with the highest settings and resolutions.

For who it is: Players who do not mind a heavy laptop.

Why we chose the Alienware Area-51m:

The Alienware Area-51m is unlike any other gaming laptop you've seen. With its light gray exterior and the sci-fi logos it not only looks striking, but is also a real desktop replacement. We mean that in terms of performance this thing enjoys, as well as the actual components inside. The Area-51m offers CPU options right down to a desktop processor, the Core i9-9900K. This is an 8-core CPU with 16 threads, which makes this laptop significantly more powerful than anything else.

But the best? All components, including the GPU and the CPU, can be replaced. In our review, we found that access to these parts was not as easy as marketing has suggested. Still, it's an incredibly powerful notebook running almost everything at high frame rates on its 1080p-144Hz screen. Even if you connect it to a 4K monitor, you'll be impressed by how well games are running.

It's not the gaming notebook you need on the go, especially given the low battery life and rugged case, but if true performance is what you want, look no further.

The Best Budget Gaming Notebook: Dell G3 Gaming Notebook

Dell G3 Gaming Laptop Review | Fortnite Up Close
Nate Barrett / Digital Trends

Why You Should Buy This: It's the best slot machine you can buy for less than $ 1,000.

For who it is: Students, gamers, who wants to have a gaming laptop but do not want to break the bank.

Why We Opted for the Dell G3 Gaming Laptop:

But as one of the cheapest systems with a dedicated GPU, it can not be ignored. It is more modest than the other systems here and comes standard with an Intel Core i5-8300H and 8GB of RAM. The real star of the show is the graphics card, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. During our tests, we could almost keep up with more expensive laptops like the Razer Blade. It does not look all that spicy, but it has more than enough horsepower to run the latest games with high detail settings.

Our review sample has processed games such as Battlefield 1 Fortnite ] and Civilization VI at about 60 frames per second – and at maximum setting. It's harder to play at higher resolutions, but there are configuration options for the GTX 1060 that would do better. There's even a new version that includes 9th generation processors and new 16-series Nvidia graphics cards.

The G3 looks like a budget system, though it's not as bad as you might expect. It's a bit heavy, covered with plastic and in many shades of blue. The screen frames are thick, the touchpad feels cheap and the display is pretty boring. But overcoming some of these trade-offs, you'll find a very powerful gaming notebook that delivers impressive frame rates – and that's important to most people.

The Best Gaming Laptop Under $ 1,800: Acer Predator Triton 500

Best Gaming Laptops Acer Predator Triton 500 Review 23 [19659039] Why You Should Buy This: It is a powerful gaming laptop with a thin and lightweight design at an affordable price.

<span data-cloudcity=

For who it is: Who wants to look professional without sacrificing raw gaming performance.

Why we chose the Acer Predator Triton 500:

When shopping for a gaming laptop, it may seem like you have to put in a lot of money for a thin option and easy, yet powerful enough for serious gamers. Although this may have been the case in the past, the Acer Predator Triton 500 is a hit. It offers a lot of power while being slim and affordable.

Starting with an i7-8750H and a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU and Top With an RTX 2080 Max-Q upgrade, the Triton 500 can compete with many other laptops on the list for far less. A 144 Hz G-Sync screen, a comfortable keyboard and a variety of connectivity options sweeten the deal. The design of the Triton 500 packs everything in a frame that is only slightly larger than a MacBook Pro 15 or Dell XPS 15.

There are some limitations. The Triton 500 does not look like a standard gaming laptop, but it also lacks the eye-catching design of other thin and lightweight gaming laptops like the Razer Blade 15. Like its aesthetics, the battery life of the Triton 500 is also poor. But if you are looking for the best gaming model for your money, you can hardly do it better.

The Best Gaming Laptop Under $ 1,500: Lenovo Legion Y740 15

 lenovo legion y740 15 review 14
Arif Bacchus / Digital Trends

Why You Should Buy This: If you want fantastic 1080p gaming performance for a budget of $ 1,500.

For whom? : Gamers who want high value for money without sacrificing build quality or case design.

Why we chose the Lenovo Legion Y740 15:

Lenovo redesigned its Legion laptops in 2018 We've liked the design ever since. However, the 2019 version does what many gaming laptops can not do: keep prices low without compromising performance. The Y740 has everything you expect from a high-end gaming laptop. An RGB keyboard, a 144 Hz refresh screen, RTX graphics, thin bezels, numerous ports, and a six-core processor.

What is missing then? Well, not much Lenovo saves storage space and offers either only a 128 GB SSD or an extremely slow hard drive. However, if you want to save some money, you will not be disappointed with either the RTX 2060 or the GTX 1660 Ti models.

and Buying Tips

How Much Does a Gaming Laptop Cost?

Gaming laptops are usually more expensive than general-purpose laptops because they generally include a dedicated graphics chip for better graphics and refresh rates. But they do not have to cost the world.

Our favorite small-pocket gaming laptop, the Dell G3 Gaming Laptop costs well under $ 1,000. There are some alternative, reasonably priced laptops that we like, though you're having trouble finding something that's great for playing once you make $ 500. If you need the latest components and fastest screens, you can spend well over $ 2,000 at the top.

What should I look for in a gaming laptop?

If you want to play something In addition to classic games or indie games with very low intensity you want a dedicated graphics chip. It does not have to be something amazing, and AMD APUs with Vega graphics are worth considering in the lower price segment. In both cases, you want more than just integrated Intel graphics if you want reasonable frame rates in most games.

You should also pay attention to a high refresh rate display. We think they are more important than higher resolutions when it comes to games, and they are usually not too expensive either.

You should also consider battery life if you plan to play without a power outlet, although you have not found many gaming laptops that can last more than a few hours in intense games.

Are gaming laptops good for work?

Usually yes. It does not require a dedicated graphics chip to work, but the fast processors and high-speed RAM that gaming laptops are normally equipped with can process spreadsheets and Word documents as well as numbers for the latest games. 19659002] On the other hand, a larger, thicker gaming laptop with RGB lighting may not be suitable for every job setting. A more restrained design like the Razer Blade or the G-series of Dell gaming laptops fits much better, though it's a problem to keep in mind.

Are Mac Laptops Good for Games? bad, but most of them are not great. Apple puts only dedicated graphics chips into its 15-inch MacBook Pro models, and even these are undersupplied compared to much cheaper Windows laptops. It also needs to be aware of software compatibility, as there are many more games available on Windows than on MacOS, even if Apple Arcade has been added.

The MacBook Pro comes in handy, but they are not slot machines. However, if you really want to stick to a Mac, Boot Camp always has the dual-boot capability to run Windows 10 games on your MacBook hardware.
