When will gym and shopping centers open again? How about Sports arenas, cinemas, hairdressers and concert halls? The results can vary widely depending on where you live, but one element that has so far been true around the world Corona virus Blocking restrictions are not lifted immediately.

Countries and states take a step-by-step approach, relaxing some rules and maintaining others. For example, as of mid-March, more than 40 countries have subjected tens of millions of US citizens to a kind of blocking regulation that spanned several months Self quarantine and stay at home Guidelines, social distancing and Face mask requirements. Now that the curve of daily cases is flattening in some parts of the country, government and health agencies are working on plans for how to make society and the US economy “normal” again.

Officials in the U.S. and around the world welcome the gradual reopening, from the White House to medical experts at Johns Hopkins University. This is how the different reopening phases for your region could look like as society slowly opens up.

Phase 1 is now underway: slow down the spread of the corona virus

In many parts of the United States, this is the phase in which many residents live. Social distance and orders that stay at home keep most people in the house, except for important trips to the shop and leisure walks.

Non-essential shops and activities such as shopping centers, theaters, sporting events, hairdressing salons, hairdressing shops and casinos were closed. Companies that provide key health and safety services remain open, including grocery and hardware stores, pharmacies, hospitals, medical centers, banks, and gas stations.

Restaurants – and pubs and bars in some states like New Jersey – are considered essential, but do require collection of your order or delivered it instead of sitting down to eat.

Outdoors, residents have to avoid large groups, practice social distancing, and in some regions too required to wear face masks.

Phase 2: The barrier begins to lift

This is the next phase that many countries are going to. The U.S. government, working with public health advisors, suggests that quarantine restrictions may ease after:

  • The number of daily cases decreases steadily for at least two weeks.
  • Hospitals and medical centers can work outside of crisis mode to care for all COVID-19 patients.
  • coronavirus tests becomes generally available to vulnerable healthcare workers.

For example, California has eased building restrictions and certain DMV operations, and Georgia has already told companies that they can reopen.

Some states – including New York – may be waiting for further safeguards, such as widely used tests for everyone with symptomsto drop in place. Contact tracking could be another important component for some states to quickly find people who have come into contact with an infected person and isolate themselves.

States are likely to open companies that are considered low-risk for the spread of the virus, such as garden shops, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities. To return to work and school, you must comply with physical distance requirements and temperature tests as part of the condition for entering a building or classroom indoors (e.g. when the desks are 6 feet apart).

The most vulnerable, including the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions, may need to continue to seek protection.

Phase 3: Open other companies and activities

With dwindling daily cases and more common testsHeads of state will try to reopen high-risk companies where customers and employees are in close contact for long periods, such as nail shops and hair salons. Gyms, cinemas and churches can also be opened during this phase.

As states carefully loosen restrictions, Contact tracking will play an increasingly important role in monitoring the spread of the virus. Contact tracking is a long recognized tool used by public health officials to identify infected people and people who may have been in close proximity to the person who tested positive for the disease. To identify possible new COVID-19 cases, health officials are looking for a contact list on our cell phones.

Phase 4: Herd immunity or a vaccine help restore normality

The goal of the first three phases is to get us to a point of community-wide resistance to the coronavirus. One way to achieve this is called Herd immunityThis means that 60% or more of the population has been exposed to the coronavirus and has increased some degree of immunity against it. The other approach is through a vaccine that is believed to be a year or more away. As soon as we have a safe and effective vaccine and therapeutic agents to protect the population from infections, the authorities can completely lift the socially distant orders and bring them back to normal.

What about travel bans and restrictions?

The reopening of local public transport and other means of mass transport such as air and train travel for non-essential journeys is an important, but possibly riskier phase, since passengers are often in close contact for long periods. Domestic air travel already comes with a number of restrictions, but international vacation are not currently funded. And in some cases, they are not even possible because airlines have shortened routes.

States will also strive for a relaxing interstate trip: in some states, including Hawaii and Rhode Island, anyone arriving in the state – residents, visitors, or tourists – must quarantine themselves for 14 days.

When your state opens, you should still take steps to ensure that you are safe.
