The final season of Game of Thrones is the shortest season so far with only 6 episodes, but do not be discouraged. We're learning today that most episodes in Season 8 will be longer than the usual lesson we normally set aside, and while this is the shortest episode-based season, there will still be plenty of content.
HBO today unveiled the length of all 6 episodes in the last season. The first two clocks in lengths we expect more or less from Game of Thrones at 54 minutes and 58 minutes, respectively. As soon as we reach Episode 3, they become much longer. See the full list of episodes and their terms below:
• Episode 1 – April 14: 54 minutes
• Episode 2 ̵
• Episode 3 – April 28: 1 hour, 22 minutes
• Episode 4 – 5 May: 1: 1 hour, 18 minutes
• Episode 5 – May 12: 1 hour, 20 minutes
• Episode 6 – May 19: 1 hour, 20 minutes
So for the last four episodes of the season we can almost get the movie length. The presence of these massive episodes will not be a surprise to the people who are all involved in the show so far, as there are plenty of loose ends before the end of the series. Unfortunately, we can not really guess the content of these episodes because their names are not yet known.
Although Game of Thrones will be completed in a few months, HBO is not yet done with the franchise. HBO was quite open with its plans to create a Game of Thrones prequel series that stars thousands of years before the events of the current show and stars Naomi Watts. We look forward to more information in the future, but in the next few months all eyes will be on Game of Thrones as it prepares to end its incredibly successful run.
