The iPhone 12 is included WITHOUT EarPods or a power supply unit

Apple customers who spend up to £ 1,400 ($ 1,822) on a new top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro will not receive a charging pad or headphones with the device for the first time.

According to the tech giant, this is part of an endeavor to help reduce pollution and save the planet, one of Apple’s alleged priorities.

A Lightning-to-USB-C cable is included. However, users who want a pair of EarPods or a standard AC adapter will need to purchase them separately for £ 19 ($ 24) each.

As a result, iPhone boxes are getting smaller and thinner, allowing Apple to squeeze 70 percent more onto a single pallet, reducing global shipping costs as well as emissions.

After Apple announced it was getting rid of the two stalwarts, Apple unveiled two replacement devices, the MagSafe charger for £ 39 ($ 50) and the Beats Flex headphones for £ 50 ($ 65).

MagSafe was last seen as a way to connect laptop charging cables to computers and is used in the iPhone 1

2 line for chargers, phone cases and other accessories. It enables fast wireless charging with 15 W.

The latest Beats Flex headphones, released on the occasion of the iPhone 12 launch event, are considered the Apple company’s cheapest premium wireless headphones to date.

The Apple company also sells its own wireless AirPods, starting at £ 159 ($ 207).

Apple said during its keynote speech that it is carbon neutral for its global corporate operations and wants this to extend to its entire business by 2030.

“This means that every Apple device sold, from material collection to component manufacturing, assembly, transportation, customer use and charging to recycling and material recovery, is 100 percent carbon neutral,” said the Cupertino based company a statement.

“iPhone 12 models were designed with the environment in mind.”

Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environmental, political and social initiatives, spoke at the company’s swanky Hi, Speed event yesterday about the green choices that have been made about the iPhone 12.

She said the precious metals in the series’ magnets will all be 100 percent from recycled sources.

Then she dropped the bombshell announcement that headphones and a charging pad would be left out of the box.

Apple justified this with the fact that there are already 700 million Lightning headphones in circulation and that there are two billion Apple power supplies worldwide.

One user with the handle @Meowsticm said, “Apple with no earplugs to cut costs when the phone is $ 700 rolled my eyes back on the back of my head.”

Another, @@ qusai_baqaeen, tweeted, “Apple’s new environmental goal is not to include a power adapter or earplugs when purchasing the new iPhone 12, but rather to bring the new phone to market for the same price as the older version.”

The tech giant, first to be valued at more than $ 2 trillion, says the decision will save over 2 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.

According to Apple estimates, that’s the equivalent of nearly 450,000 cars being taken off the road annually.

Potential customers are less than impressed with the move, however, especially given the fact that the USB-C to Lightning cable included in the iPhone 12 box doesn’t mate with pre-existing adapters that are sold with the handsets.

Ru Bhikha, a cell phone expert at Uswitch.com, says, “Removing the adapter and standard headphones that consumers have become accustomed to could polarize consumers. Some are disappointed, others are delighted that Apple is taking steps to become more sustainable. ‘

Ben Wood, chief researcher at CCS Insight, adds, “It’s easy to be skeptical about Apple taking the charger and headphones out of the box, and there are undoubtedly cost savings, but the environmental benefits cannot be ignored.

“Other phone manufacturers have taken this approach, but Apple’s decision likely means that in many cases the days of having a charger and headphones in a new smartphone are over.”

The new iPhone 12 can be pre-ordered from Friday, October 16. Availability is set for Friday, October 23rd.

The 12 is listed on the Apple website for $ 799, the 12 mini for $ 699, the 12 Pro for $ 999, and the Pro Max for $ 1,099.

However, the prices for each model increase for the versions with larger memory. For the 12 Pro Max, the price for the 512GB model rose to £ 1,399 ($ 1,821).

Apple introduces new iPhone 12 with super-fast 5G connectivity

Apple officially unveiled the new iPhone 12 during a live event that was seen by millions from around the world.

The smartphone has rounded edges similar to the iPad Pro and has a 5G cellular connection – the smartphone’s biggest upgrade.

In this way, the device can access the Verizons 5G Ultrawide Band, which according to Apple is the fastest system in the world with over 4 gigabytes per second.

The iPhone 12 also includes a ceramic shield, which the company claims is “harder than any smartphone glass.”

The new addition is “practically insensitive to heat and electricity” and makes it more resilient if it is dropped.

In addition to the iPhone 12, Apple announced three other smartphones including the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone Pro Max, and the brand new iPhone mini, priced at $ 699.

The tech giant has also added its fastest camera to the new range.

The dual-lens camera system features 12-megapixel ultra-wide and wide lenses, as well as a 7-element lens, which improves low-light performance by 27 percent.

Apple is opening pre-orders for the iPhone 12 on October 16, priced at $ 799. However, there are no chargers or Lightning EarPods on the devices.
