Xiaomi’s health and fitness app, Wed health receives a new update that offers the functionality to monitor the user’s heart rate. The app used to be accessible to certain MIUI users only after it launched last year in China.
According to a current reported by XDA developerthe app will receive heart rate monitoring support in its latest update, which brings the version number to 2.7.4. The app previously had the ability to track steps, monitor sleep, and track the menstrual cycle.
Wed health uses the Mi device’s camera to monitor heart rate. The report explains that a user must first open the newly available heart rate monitoring section in the app. There is a red button in the lower right corner that users must press.
A new screen will open asking the user to completely block the camera and blink with a finger on your device. As soon as this is done, the smartphone starts measuring the heart rate. A progress bar will appear on the screen as shown in the screenshots shared by the tech portal. A user must keep their finger in the same position until that bar reaches 100 percent.
A pop-up window then opens in which the status of a user is queried. There are three options to choose from: general state, resting state and post-workout. Once the user has entered this information, a “View Report” tab will open. When you press it, it will display your current heart rate based on your current status. The report will appear to have a graph showing whether someone has a slow, normal, or fast heart rate.
The feature is expected to be available to all users in the coming week.
