Apple’s iPhone 12 line has officially been delayed, but it’s the company’s controversial design choices that are the real issue and now new leaks have emerged, which is possibly the biggest of them all.
Together, popular YouTuber Filip Koroy (aka EverythingApplePro) and prolific leaker Max Weinbach have revealed that Apple has decided to differentiate the iPhone 12 Pro Max from other iPhone 12 models in 2020.
“The 6.7-inch mammoth iPhone [12 Pro Max] will really be considered the flagship this year, ”explains Koroy. “It will have the best display and the best cameras … The [iPhone] The 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max were really the same devices, the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will be more differentiated. “
Koroy doesn’t break up those differences, but recent leaks have speculated that the iPhone 12 Pro Max may be the only new iPhone that comes with Apple’s exciting new LiDAR camera. Apple’s decision to downgrade the batteries on its new iPhones also has the least impact on the iPhone 12 Pro Max model. It may also mean that it will be the only model to get a 120Hz ProMotion display, although it is feared that all models will miss it.
The big problem, however, is that not everyone wants a 6.7-inch smartphone, and Koroy explains that the range’s edgy new design will likely only heighten those sentiments:
“Max Weinbach’s source, which had practical time with the 6.7[-inch iPhone] 12 Pro Max model says it’s pretty uncomfortable [to hold]. The bigger the size gets, the more it digs into your palm and depending on the size of your hands, this can be a problem. Cases could alleviate this, but it’s definitely a very chic and sharp piece of hardware. ”
The other uncomfortable aspect of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the price. At the beginning of this month there were leaks for every new model. The iPhone 12 Pro Max now starts at $ 1,199.
Is this price increase deserved? Yes and no. The main driver behind this is the inclusion of an expensive 5G mmWave modem, which is also where competitors are driving up prices. However, Apple is also making cuts with the iPhone 12 series. Aside from the downgraded batteries and their impact on 120 Hz displays, Apple will be taking both the charger and EarPods out of the box. This has clear environmental benefits, but may not be a good fit for customers in the context of the price increase.
All of this means that the iPhone 12 range is probably one of Apple’s most polarizing iPhone versions. My tip: the cheapest model looks the best.
