Today, MWC Barcelona, the SD Association, has introduced microSD Express, which will allow mobile devices to process and create content even faster. This new microSD card platform increases transmission speed while consuming less energy.
The new format will be available in microSDHC Express, microSDXC Express and microSDUC Express versions.
How SD Express, microSD Express Taps The PCIe interface achieves a maximum data transfer rate of 985 megabytes per second (MB / s). This is possible due to the specifications for PCIe 3.1 and NVMe v1.3, which live in a second pin row. The SD Association expects the faster cards to consume less power than traditional memory cards while remaining backward compatible.
The high data speeds could cause mobile manufacturers to rethink their devices. Read and write speeds have long been a limiting factor for expandable memory, but with this new format, which is backward compatible, data transfer is almost as fast as the built-in memory.
