The OnePlus 8T theme may have leaked in OxygenOS 11 Beta 4

It’s been a busy year for OnePlus. The company has already released three smartphones this year (8, 8 Pro and Nord), its first truly wireless earbuds (OnePlus Buds), and plans to release possibly two more mid-range smartphones (codenamed “Clover”) “and” Billie As usual, however, OnePlus is preparing to launch another flagship smartphone in the fall, and it is expected to be the OnePlus 8T. Thanks to a demolition of the latest version of OxygenOS 11 Beta 4 we may have just had our first look at the upcoming phone, which is slated to be code-named “kebab”.

XDA member and frequent OnePlus tipster Some_Random_Username has shut down OxygenOS 11 Beta 4 for the Oxygen Updater blog and found some interesting details that may relate to the upcoming OnePlus 8T. Firstly, an outline of the new OnePlus camera application suggests that OnePlus is working on support for 8K video recording, which is not currently available on any OnePlus device and therefore intended for the OnePlus 8T. We have already found evidence that a future OnePlus device may have a 64-megapixel camera sensor that can capture more than enough pixels to capture at 8K resolution.

Here is the code that mentions 8K resolution support:

More importantly, there is a file in the latest OnePlus Settings app called “oneplus_8t.webp”. This is an image file that will appear on the About Phone page in OxygenOS. Presumably, this rendering is displayed when the operating system detects that the device is a OnePlus 8T. However, we cannot confirm whether this rendering is the actual device or just a placeholder.

OnePlus 8T rendering

On the render we can see that the device has a flat screen and a single hole punch cutout in the upper left. In contrast, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have curved displays, while the OnePlus Nord has a double hole cutout. While we can’t see anything else, including the back, we can see the handset speaker, volume buttons on the left, the power button on the right, and the alarm knob on the right.

OnePlus usually releases its T-series devices in the fall, just around the corner. Since there are already indications of a OnePlus 8T, we will probably receive more specific details in the coming days and weeks.
