Pride of Britain Award winner Ella Chadwick melted hearts this morning at Good Morning Britain’s 13th birthday appearance.
Ella, from Rochdale, was born with congenital nephrotic syndrome, a rare kidney disease, and stole the show when she won the Child of Courage award at the Pride of Britain ceremony in 2018.
She recently celebrated her birthday and showed up with her mother, Karen, to reveal that her day was spent with afternoon tea and a joke candle birthday cake at home, where she is still shielding herself amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Ella was dialyzed for six years and had more than 40 surgeries, including two kidney transplants donated by her father and grandmother. She has diabetes and is dependent on a walker and a wheelchair.

53-year-old hostess Kate Garraway asked Ella, “What is it like to be a teenager?”
“Well,” replied the teenager, “it’s good because I like it, you help people clean the house, you help children. ”
Mother Karen continued, “We couldn’t go out, we still keep them in, so we had afternoon tea and takeaway, music, balloons.”
Ella continued, “And I opened some presents that were an iPad and a book, and as you can see, these are my candles. But they wouldn’t blow out so I had to say “help me please” and we had a party dinner that was so delicious and we all like parties sometimes. ‘
Viewers quickly took to Twitter to praise the 13-year-old and wish her a happy birthday. One greeted her as an “inspiring young girl” while another referred to her as a “sunbeam”.
The audience was enthusiastic about the performance and wrote: “Ella is such an inspiring young woman who always brings a massive smile.”
‘Happy Birthday Ella’, wrote another ‘little ray of sunshine, bless her. Nice to see she does so much for others hope she has a nice day. ‘
A third raved, “It’s so exuberant to see Ella on GMB today, what a happy little girl, despite everything she’s up to.
Even Corrie star Antony Cotton went to Twitter to wish Ella a happy birthday and wrote: Happy Birthday Ella! I’m watching you and Ben Shephard in the Corrie canteen.

Karen went on to admit that the ban didn’t come as a huge shock to Ella despite missing her friends for spending so much time in the hospital during her transplant
Karen further admitted that while she missed her friends, the lockdown didn’t come as too much of a shock to Ella because she spent so much time in the hospital during her transplant.
“She was fine,” said Karen, “we were busy, she did lots of laps in the garden raising money for the NHS so she was busy.”
“It wasn’t such a big shock how she spent so many months in the hospital doing transplants, but with friends and events that she would normally do, that really was the hardest part.”

Ella and mother Karen supported the Share Your Wishes campaign during transplant week.
“We looked at Share Your Wishes on social media,” said Karen. “Just so people could talk to their families and let them know if they’d like to donate their organs.”
So it’s a campaign for people to sit down, brew something, and talk to their family. ‘
