Toshiba will launch its line of smart TVs in India, which will be available from various online retailers on September 18th. Now marketed by Hisense and acquired Toshiba Visual Solutions in 2017, the Japanese brand will return to India with a new range of televisions in various sizes, resolutions and screen technologies. The Toshiba Ultimate 4K TV series will be among the televisions to be unveiled in India and will be available through Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital and TataCliq.
The new Toshiba televisions run on the updated version of the Vidaa operating system for smart TVs developed by Hisense in 2014. The operating system is said to be customizable and supports important apps and streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Red Bull TV and Hungama among others. The Toshiba range is touted as “Made in India”
Toshiba’s first product launches include the Ultimate 4K TV series of LED televisions positioned in the affordable 4K HDR TV segment. While the prices have not yet been announced, the price for the Ultimate 4K TV series is likely to be under Rs. 30,000. The series will be available in four sizes – 43 “, 50”, 55 “and 65” – and will come with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos sound.
Toshiba will also launch its 65-inch QLED flagship and 43-inch Smart TVs with Full HD and 32-inch HD resolution on September 18, all on the Vidaa Smart platform to run. The new Toshiba TV series could be very similar to the Hisense TV series recently unveiled in India. The Ultimate 4K TV series is roughly the same as Hisense A71F series.
