The US has long claimed that Huawei, a manufacturer of phones and network devices, has close ties to the Chinese government, which raises concerns that its devices could be used to spy on other countries and companies. The Department of Commerce blacklisted Huawei after Trump’s order effectively banned the company from U.S. communications networks.
The department was expanded againThis allows some American companies to work with Huawei. It will last until August 13th and is expected to be the last such expansion.
Neither the White House, the Department of Commerce, nor Huawei responded to requests for comments.
