This week there are two new games in the top ten physical retail charts and both in the Mafia series from 2K Games.
Mafia: Definitive Edition debuts at number 3 and is a remake of the original from 2002. This new version was developed by Hangar 13, the team behind Mafia 3 from 2016. In the meantime, the Mafia trilogy (which is the Definitive Edition, contains a remaster of the second game and Mafia III) in 6th place. One game that has sold well in physical form is Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which secures its second week at # 1 on the UK physical charts. The game comfortably holds its position despite the fact that sales are down 78% in the first week. The Mario game collection ends the month as the best-selling boxing video game in the UK, just before Marvel’s Avengers.
Speaking of which, Marvel’s Avengers is # 2 on the charts after a 21% weekly drop in sales.
Last week’s other new releases drop out of the top ten this week, with WWE 2K Battlegrounds dropping from 6th to 11th (sales drop of 43% compared to the previous week) and PES 2021 falling from 9th to 9th place. 34 (sales down 64%).
Things are picking up speed in physical retailing and a number of major releases are coming out. It starts this week with the release of Star Wars Squadrons and Crash Bandicoot 4. A week later, the arrival of FIFA 21 follows.
