Uber has started a package delivery service so people can send and receive packets within city limits while maintaining social distance. The service, called Uber Connect, helps people connect with their family and friends while the corona virus is blocked.
This service will initially be available in four cities: Kolkata, Guwahati, Jaipur and Gurgaon.
With this service you can send and receive books and a birthday present, among other things.
However, the company does not allow users to send everything. Only items that can be transported in a two-wheeled vehicle, weigh less than 5 kg and are properly sealed can be sent.
Prohibited items such as alcohol, drugs or dangerous and illegal items cannot be delivered.
“Similar to on-demand travel, you can monitor the progress of the trip before picking it up, on the go, and when you drop it off. You can also share delivery status with the recipient of the package, ”the company said.
How to use Uber Connect
Step 1: Download the Uber app from the Google Playstore or App Store and create an account.
Step 2: After users have added their pick-up and delivery address, Uber Connect is shown in the Uber app as a new option in the vehicle selection scroller.
Step 3: Users must agree to the terms of delivery for packages and confirm that their item meets these terms.
Step 4: Request delivery.
Step 5: A notification will be sent as soon as the driver is on the way to pick up the package.
Step 6: Use the “Share my trip” feature with the recipient so they can track the delivery.
Uber launched Uber Essential last month to provide a transportation service for essential corona virus blocking needs.
It was started in Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Nashik and Hyderabad. This service was essentially introduced to bring people to places like hospitals and pharmacies.
