Vivo announces a new RGBW camera sensor that can collect 160 percent more light technology news, Firstpost



Vivo recently announced that it has been developing its own sensor for a year.

As per a report in GSMArenaThe new sensor uses an RGBW color filter array, and the company has claimed it can collect 1

60 percent more light than the traditional RGGB sensor.

Vivo claims the new RGBW sensor will collect 15 percent more light than the RYYB sensors used by Huawei, and it won’t be prone to color cast issues like the latter either.

Vivo also confirmed that it is working on a smartphone that will change the color of its back.

In the report, Vivo added that the devices with the new RGBW sensor are in development and will hit the market as early as next year.

In addition to announcing the new sensor, Vivo also announced a partnership with National Geographic to launch the Vision + Mobile Photography Awards.

Vivo confirmed that electrochromic glass will be used to perform the color change. The glass is made of a color-changing material that changes its color tones with the help of voltage changes.
