Warner Bros. continues Interesting decisions to publish and Distribution of Christopher Nolans principle, This time the generally agreed norms for reporting cash profits are being violated. Apparently other studios are not happy in business.
As reported by diversity, WB has not reported any daily numbers for principleInstead, a limited amount of data is generated sporadically Basis of what Variety calls “careful” Selected Bread Crumbs ”of information for the press and competitors in the film industry. According to Variety, the calm is due to an associated defense with the pandemic – Warner Bros. feared that reporting detailed, up-to-date numbers, as is customary, would result in the film being counted as a failure, while releasing numbers in larger chunks at less frequent intervals would generally be better looked.
What’s interesting here, too, is that other studios agreed to Warner Bros.’s original request to hide the numbers, even though they appear to have increasingly frustrated by the ongoing secrecy. Numbers are typically reported by third-party research firm Rentrak, and it apparently had to seek permission from other unnamed studio heads to hide the data. Warner Bros. and Comscore, Rentrak’s parent company, declined to allow Variety to comment on the situation.
However, it’s understandable why Warner Bros. doesn’t report the numbers: they’re not good, at least not in the US. During its first weekend it generated about $ 9 millionWhile it was only up to $ 6.7 this weekend, that was a 29% drop in sales. Combined with preview demonstrations on weekdays and the extended vacation weekend that collectively makes a gross debut of $ 20 million, making that $ 6.7 million an even steeper drop. During the global debut is better, about $ 200 million, it definitely seems that this was not the time to release the film if Warner Bros. intended to make a tidy amount of money from it. And the company is Endeavoring (apparently) to obscure this harsh reality when possible.
principle is now in theaters and you shouldn’t go see it.
