WhatsApp introduces the "Search Message" feature that allows users to determine the credibility of forwarded messages – Technology News, Firstpost

WhatsApp has developed a message search feature that allows users to check forwarded messages to stop the spread of fake messages.

The new feature should be visible to everyone in the latest version of the app.

WABetainfo also shared a screenshot of a chat on Twitter showing the search option next to a forwarded message.

However, there is a catch. Not all messages can be checked with this function. Only forwarded ones are checked.

From WhatsApp there is no confirmation when this feature will be introduced for all users.

How the Search Messages feature works

  • When you receive a frequently forwarded message, a search icon appears next to it.
  • If you click the search icon, you'll be asked if you want to check it on Google or not.
  • If you say "yes", you will be redirected to a page on the search engine where you can find out whether the information you have received is true.

WhatsApp also reduced the limit for forwarding messages to one chat at a time to check the distribution of fake messages. The limit for forwarding messages was previously set to five.

This is advertised by Facebook's own company as a crucial step at a time when the flow of incorrect information has increased many times during the block.
