The latest beta version of the WhatsApp Android app introduced a long-awaited dark mode, reports WABetaInfo . "Dark Theme" is available for all beta users from version 2.20.13 and can be activated in the "Chats" section of the settings menu of the app. You have the option of permanently activating or deactivating WhatsApp dark mode or having it determined by the system-wide settings for Android's dark mode or battery saver mode. They can also improve the battery life of devices with OLED displays. Purists will likely disagree with the fact that WhatsApp's darker mode is more gray than absolute black, but still much darker than the app's regular green and white color scheme.
With the beta version, WhatsApp is the third of the most important Facebook apps to receive dark mode status after Facebook Messenger and Instagram. It's not clear when the mode will be available to iOS or non-beta users, but given the widespread version of the beta, it won't be long.
The new mode is initially available to Android beta users. However, since WhatsApp doesn't seem to accept new registrations, non-beta users have to upload an APK to the site to hold it in their hands. 9to5Google refers to an APK that is available here. However, remember that you load them at your own risk.
