With Fortnite you can now Rickroll your friends

In a wonderful surprise for Valentine's Day, Fortnite launched a new emote that is inspired by the rickrolling meme and is incredible. It plays part of Rick Astley's actual song, "Never Gonna Give You Up," and your in-game character dances just like Astley in the music video.

The "Never Gonna" emote is available in Fortnites in-game shop for $ 500, which is approximately $ 5. You can get an impression of what it looks and sounds like in this tweet from Fortnites official Twitter account:

The emote is not only known as one of the most famous memes but it is also known because, to my knowledge, it’s the first Fortnite emote supported by a well-known song. In late 201

8, Epic Games was hit by a number of lawsuits alleging that the company stole popular dance moves and sold them as Fortnite emotes, including one of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air filed. Star Alfonso Ribeiro on Fortnites interpretation of the Carlton dance.

Most of these lawsuits are interrupted, and while choreographed dance routines may be copyrighted, individual dance movements cannot. However, copyright protection for songs is very well established, which is why Epic probably licensed Rick Astley's hit on the Internet for this new emote. And that seems to open up a potential world of possibilities where other licensed songs are used in the game.
