Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime (Redmi 9) MIUI 12 update released for restricted users

Xiaomi Redmi 9 received the MIUI 12 update in China, but the wait for the global variants is still ongoing.

The Redmi 9 is known in India as the Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime, which is also set to receive the latest custom skin update.

Now it seems that the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 9 Prime has already arrived in India, albeit for select users.

According to a member of the Mi Community’s feedback team, a limited number of Redmi 9 Prime users have already bagged the latest custom UI.

The global variants also get the same as soon as the developers are satisfied with the quality.

Please note that MIUI 12 for Redmi 9 is already available to all China ROM users and limited India ROM users. For other ROMs, including Global ROM, it will be released as soon as it is made available by developers.

However, there have been no user reports that the Redmi 9 Prime is getting the latest MIUI iteration, further indicating the possibility of a limited rollout.

It has been reported earlier that the Redmi 9 Prime will receive the latest custom skin update starting October 15, which is today. However, there is still no official announcement to confirm this.

This new information on the Redmi 9 Prime suggests that all remaining Xiaomi devices may receive the MIUI 12 update by the end of October.

Even so, the OEM is still working on the development of MIUI 12 beta updates, which have been temporarily suspended in China.

While it’s unclear whether Xiaomi will roll out MIUI 12 for all eligible devices by the end of the month, recent reports clearly indicate that the OEM intends to stick to this plan.

However, we will continue to monitor the development of MIUI 12 and provide updates as more information becomes available.
