Zynga teases Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells Match 3 mobile game

Zynga has spiced up the look and gameplay of Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells, a new Match 3 mobile game developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

The company released its first video (embedded in this story) of the game today. Bernard Kim, President of Publishing at Zynga, said in an interview with GamesBeat that the game in countries like the Philippines is only being tested and launched in limited tests after the company has received feedback from its users.

“The game is in the soft launch and it is going really well,” said Kim.

The game may not be officially released this quarter, as Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau said in a solicitation that the company plans to launch new games in the second half of the game. Kim said fans should stay tuned for a later official date.

The trailer shows iconic places by J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe, from platforms nine and three quarters across Diagon Alley to the Hogwarts Express and the Grand Staircase in Hogwarts. The video takes players on a pre-tour of some of the settings they’re going to visit during the puzzle.

“We actually set out to reveal more about this game and show visuals,” said Kim. “We are developing the first Harry Potter Match 3 mobile game. But what you’ll see in the trailer are all of the iconic moments and unforgettable faces and locations from the Harry Potter series. “

All the art in the trailer comes from the actual game.

Kim said: “We are very excited about the partnership and we want fans to know that we will bring all of these incredible moments that will bring back these incredible feelings of nostalgia and memory for players worldwide.” You jump into a puzzle experience and then interact with the characters and key backgrounds of the iconic locations. “
